SHE INVENTS HER OWN MUSIC
The interior of the room
is a heart aching for love.
She is alone now,
her soul stripped bare
against the shadowed wall.
Then, the moment comes
when she forgets herself
in the silent music sprung
out of the untouched keys &
the unclaimed morning light.
In truth, she was thinking of
a rough love-making acted out
with her lover in spring time.
The rain should be warm
on the skin & the sky burning.
No. Not rough sex.
That is not what she wants.
It is some sort of wild dancing
like her heart now dancing
wildly in this silent room.
No one has truly seen
the interior of her heart,
like the grand piano, standing
here for fifty years, and
no one has invented a song.
After she left the room,
something has forever changed.
The dust has ceased dancing
in the sunlight and fragrance
fills the room for the first time.

I can picture “rough sex” in my mind (should be similar the one in Joe : )), but hard to find a Chinese phrase for that . . . I use two different Chinese phrases to translate it to avoid repetition and also hope that they can translate the same thing from different angles. . .

They conspired to paint the air
knowing that art
is not only a way
of seeing
but a way
of being,
a passion for the light,
a tenderness at heart
just short
of being wounded by the air,
a toughness too.
They conspired to paint the air,
to anatomize each light mote,
to imprism each speck of dust
until the air danced with color
and every inhaled breath
