what are the meeting for:


good meeting has two main functions:

1 operational

inform/discuss/decide

2 social

establishing the group's identity


reinforcing each person's position in the group

establishing collective responsiblity and commitment

planing and prepareing for meetings

you need designing the meeting

Draw up an agenda


ordering the agenda

Stay in control:

1 Establish the facts

the reason for the item being ont the agenda

a brief summary of the history of the subject bringing it up to the current position


what need to be established, decided or resolved

the key arguments on both sides

the possible courses of action

2 State the evidence

3 Discuss what the evidence means


4 Arrive at a conclusion

5 Make a decision based on that conclusion

you should take notes for those meetings:

1 The date, time and location of the meeting

2 Who chaired it


3 Who was present, and any apolopgies for absence

4 All agenda items which were discuessed

5 For each item you should state the key arguments leading to decisions, any decisions reached, and any action to be taken. Record clearly the name of the person or people resonsible for carrying out the action, and when they will do it by.

6 The time the meeting ended

7 The date , time and location of the next meeting.
