What the devil

Living in the now. And the best is yet to come.

After seeing the trailer of The Devil Wears Prada about 30 some times, I decided to pull my copy of the namesake book from one of the book piles stacked high on my bedroom floor. Then I sat my ass down and plowed through it in two sittings.

Not bad actually.

Amazon has some quite mean-spirited reviews and labeled it as not so good as The Nanny Diary. Well, I DON’T concur this time.

I thought this book is much better written and much less, although still plenty, engrossed in self-righteousness than the stupid nannies.

It’s a fun read. The servitude that the heroine had to suffer through isn’t too far a cry from my own work. Such as having to be on call constantly. Checking in office voice mails during vacations. Dealing with intentionally un-specific bosses. Tackling the unnecessary crisis unnecessarily often. All too familiar.

I think I will pass the movie. For one thing, Maryl Streep is no Anna Wintour, she’s not a size 0, now is she? ; )

Also finished the Blue Shoes and Happiness and I think I’m going to curtail my so-far religiously following of the No. 1 Detective Agency Series. It’s become trite and consequently I’m no longer intrigued.

I’m on a roll with the fictions lately. I cracked open this mystery called Little Indiscretions and it seems lovely.
