Evan's physical and immunization record for the daycare is due, so after work today I went to drop off the form for his pediatrician to fill out.

While we were driving, Evan realized that there was a Burger King on the way to the pediatrician's office, so he told me that he wanted to eat at Burger King for dinner.

Thinking about how much chicken nuggets they have had during our 10 day vacation recently, I said firmly:" No honey, may be next time, but we can't eat there today. I am going to make you your favorite fish after we get home though."

"You say next time too much. You are not listening to me. I want to eat at Burger King today!" Evan whined.

He got even more upset after I said "No." to him a couple of more times and complained that I wasn't listening to him.

"I am listening to you Evan, and I know you are upset, but we just can't eat there today. It is not healthy to eat at Burger King so much. If you want, I can buy a chicken Quesadilla at Taco Bell for you." I tried to reason with him thinking it would make my life easier if both of them eat at the Taco Bell.

"No, I don't want to eat at Taco Bell. I want to eat at Burger King. You always take me to bad places. Taco Bell/>/> is bad place and Burger King is good place." He protested.

Then he started bawling when he saw we actually passed the Burger King.

"You are not being nice! Mom! The policeman is going to get you because you are not listening to me and take me to Burger King!"

We have told the kids before that the policeman is going to get them when sometimes they refuse to be buckled into the car seat. Today, Evan used it on me.

Olivia started laughing after she heard what Evan said. "The policeman is going to get mom if she doesn't take us to Burger King? That is the weirdest thing I have ever heard! You make me and mommy laugh, Evan!"

And of course, that just made Evan cry even harder.
