So I wan in the bay area for a friend's wedding a while ago. Due to the time difference, I wasn't be able to sleep very well. One of the benefits of being an early-morning riser in San Francisco is watching the city come awake. The pictures below are of a walk I took two weeks ago when the sun was coming up. That morning, I had woken up at four a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep. So I got up, made a pot of tea, and read for a while. When I noticed the sun rising over the city, I rushed out to walk up and over Russian Hill. Now if only I could find some breakfast places that open extra early.

The streets of San Fransisco have steep ups and downs. When I drove on those streets for the first time, I almost had the feeling that I can't stop for trafic light when going down the slope, or can't start from an upward slope. I see those slopes as the signature of San Fransisco.
