Motorola Gets Call from Chinese Distributor for $1.6 Billion

Shenzhen Telling Telecom Development Co. is a unit of Jiangxi Gannan Fruit Co. Got that? A fruit company owns a telecom company.

Anyway, the telecom company has ordered 12 million mobile phones from Motorola Inc. for next year with a price tag of $1.6 billion.

The deal is expected to be signed sometime today, or is it yesterday already, in China?

What that means to me is that the streets are going to get even more crowded as business picks up here in the Valley (Silicon).
