Thank you for sharing. Maybe some one else have alrady known about what you said or even known more, I don't think they have the right to criticise you, because you wrote it down with a good will.
Well, that's the reason why we Chinese can't unite closely as other nations. I am shamed of this...

The tricky part is what do you work hard for? I would understand one works hard for something meaningful, but it's hard to comprehend an idea of "finding something to chat for the purpose of saying something," and it's even not professionally required. Using this way to build up intimacy and relationship(except for professional reason) with others is misleading, at least such a relationship can't be deep and last long. "Be yourself and be genuine," even better to be interesting, is more important and effective in communicating with your colleagues. You will win more respects. However, the important thing is that you truly enjoy the communication yourself, otherwise, don't tire yourself.
I don't mind you deleted my comment, as long as you realize the true reasons beneath your communication problems with your "American" colleagues and may one day start to think a bit more and deeper.

Hey, you don't have to delete different opinion. It's not cool. How would you communicate with your colleges if they are not interested in the topic you work hard for?

Great sharing. I think that it is a "big issue" to effectively communicate with collegues. People is very often judged by their communication skills. However, finding a good topic always is a barrier to make the communication go smoothly. Thanks for the sharing and waiting for more about this topic
