　　　《被侮辱和被损害的》的主要内容：工厂主史密斯之女是个美丽纯情的姑娘。她爱上了瓦尔科夫斯基公爵。公爵是个人面兽心的恶棍。他骗走了老人全部财产，然后又把他的女儿抛弃在国外。父女俩由于贫病交加，相继死去。 公爵的儿子则是个表面上英俊可爱的花花公子。公爵为了阻挠他的儿子与平民之女娜塔莎相爱和结合，不惜无中生有地诬陷她的父亲鲸吞他的款子。他又玩弄诡计让儿子另觅新欢……
