Unfortunately, you can not do too much at the beginning stage, becaust the cause of the fever often can't be determined during the first 24 hours.
So just remember: Extra Fluids and Less Clothing. Give Tylenol if the fever is over 102°F, but avoid aspirin.
Call your PD anytime if:
Fever goes above 104°F
Fever lasts for more than 3 days
Any difficulty breathing
difficulty swallowing fluids or saliva
Very irritable
Signs of dehydration (very dry mouth, no urine in more than 8 hours, etc.).
Most fevers associated with viral illnesses fluctuate between 101° and 104°F will last for 2 or 3 days
