I think it doesn't matter where you stay or work, you have a price to pay regardless, as long as you feel comfortable for yourself and your family, there's no point to arguing this anymore....
It is funny that when I decided to come to US, one of my most important thoughts was "Beijing is so hot in the summer and so windy and dirty in spring". At that time I was a student and never saw big money. I didn't feel I was poor and didn't have a strong desire to earn big money anyway. Another thought was "There are so many people everywhere, I wish to go to somewhere quiet and have a lot of nature".
Now in USA, the temperature is much more pleasant for most people, and we have a lot of nature, so we just take them for granted and ignored them. Poor people are taken care of relatively well. The country's system is relatively more healthy. So the only (or maybe most important) thought for a lot Chinese in USA is to make more and more and more money. That's why so many people here are so eager to go back to China. Do they really want to contribute to China and a son/daughter of this country? I dare say most people just want to dig gold in China. If China is still poor and there aren't so many high-paying/high-benefit opportunities, will most of you consider going back? Note that there is always a cost to opportunities--your conscience, your children's futures, and also, the dirty air and crowds in China.
Desiring to become rich above all around you, to earn big and easy money and have a privileged life is for many a natural instinct(which is not necessarily a noble instinct, if you read the Bible and believe in the Judgement). However, desires may lead to many things that may finally give pains. Nowadays China is filled with desires out-of-control. What will this lead to for the future?

I don't think China should do so many re-construction,although it might stimulate economy temporarily. One reason USA doesn't do so much re-construction is to preserve nature resources of its own--you cannot say that China only use foreign materials to construct roads, railways, airports, etc. Actually, I believe most of the construction materials--i.e.natural resources-- are from China.
Do you know how much oil reserve this world has left? I am an environmental engineer and a chief scientist from BP mentioned in my department's seminar that the whole world has 41 more years of oil to use, according to current detected reserve and current production rate. And it's estimated that the world has another 41 years of oil to use for the estimated to-be-detected reserve by current production rate(but this reserve, including deep sea, oil sand, etc, according to current technology, is much much more expensive to excavate). Now you know why Bush will fight his life to send army to Iraq and Iran. 20 years later the world will have a lot of crises in natural resources, not just in oil. Natural gas price increases together with oil, that's why US electricity prices are high nowadays. Coal is a cheaper (and has a high amount of reserve)but much much dirtier to use(not just for CO2 reasons, coal has a lot of toxic metals and other elements such as sulfur and nitrogen to produce SO2 and NOx, which pollutes the air terribly, it also releases particulate matters when being combusted.) Simplest of all, all constructions need power(electricity, produced mostly by natural gas and coal, and also by hydropowers in China), energy (like gasoline), and water. The crises in water is much worse, actually, it might lead to big ecological changes in China(if you are interested, check discussions on ecological impacts of projects such as the North to South Water Diversion project, which will, by 2030, divert the amount equivalent of the Yellow River from the Yangtze, by official reports in 2003).
What China need now is to spend the money on improving poor people's lives--education, health care, etc.And improve natural resource preservation and environmental quality. Those may not show up in GDP calculation but definitely are much more important than doing so much re-constructions.

First off, I am Chinese without cizenship since China doesn't allow it happen when I became Canadian. Anyway, I still treat myself Chinese first then Canaidan.Regardless, it's not topic here.
I can see it becomes a hot topic recently if we Chinese overseas should move back to China now for better oppotunities. I kindly agree that we, including myself, might have a brighter future in China. However, possibility means a chance you will not be that successful as expected. So you should consider now what you gona do next? Should you move back to States or Canada? Yes, you can, but what a big hazzle moving overseas with your family, especically with your kids? I can say it is NOT smart to keep losing focus when develop your carrer or business. No matter China or States, you will be successful regardless where you are, as long as you spend enough time and efforts.
It's for myself essentially, but wanna share with you guys, that believe me, put in a safe way when we talking about reality, you can only move your family (I mean family, not talking about single) ONCE. If you plan moving back to China, you need to tell yourself now that You Are Not Come Back Again.
I can't agree anymore.the economic volume of China would expend more than thousand times in next couple years. Why? Look at New york state govner sex scandal. The call girl charged him more than $4,000 for only 2 and half hours service. Please compare the price of service that Chinese call girl provided. Think about the popularity of business of call girl in Chinese men?what a huge economic volume if Chinese call girls raise the service price?
What China doesn't have, what's China's major weakness as for when you plan to live there for a long time? I think the top answer from my understanding is the SYSTEM. China doesn't have a mature system to run so many things properly. So when someone there is making big money, it doesn't mean you can do it as well. US has much better FAIR system that you could show yourself without kissing somebody's ass as part of your life. That's the main reason I decide to stay in States. By the way, I am Canadian.
