New Moon 新月 (图)

Although New Moon is not as exciting as the Twilight, it is still an interesting book to read. In this book Bella is anxious to become a vampire because she is pained by the growing age gap between herself and Edward since this one will remain 17 for the rest of eternity. On the dreadful birthday party held in the Cullen’s mansion, Bella had an accident and cut herself. Her blood incited the vampires, especially Jasper, Edward’s less controllable brother. The event made Edward realize how dangerous he and his family are for Bella and he decided to leave Bella. The vampire family left the town without any trace. The description of Bella’s emotions, especially the despair and pain caused by the abandonment, is heartwretching. Many readers who have experienced love and loss of love can relate to the depiction of the female protagonist’ feelings. Bella, a responsible and mature girl, tried to put herself together for the sake of her parents, and made friend with Jacob, who happened to become a werewolf. Jacob is in love with Bella and Bella, in the absence of Edward, depended her sanity solely on Jacob. Bella had another accident which almost killed her. The miscommunication led Edward believe that Bella had died. He tried to suicide, which was not an easy task for vampires. Bella, with the help of Alice, Edward’s sister, rescued her boyfriend from grave danger. Edward confessed his never dying love for Bella and the two went back together. What will happen to Jacob, the other angle of the amorous triangle? To find out, one needs to read Eclipse.
