IFLA Fund Disaster Relief now open for China Donations
It is with great sadness that IFLA has received the news of the tragicconsequences of the severe earthquake that struck the Wenchuan Countyof southwest China’s Sichuan Province, on May 12, 2008.
The earthquake with a force measuring 8 on the Richter scale causedmajor damage to the central infrastructure and many cities and villagesin China and subsequently destroyed many library buildings. IFLA hasbeen following the events in Sichuan Province with great concern anddeplores the loss of life and property resulting from the terribledisaster that struck our Chinese colleagues.
Below you’ll find the open letter of the Chinese Library Society thatcontains more details on the earthquake and its impact on our Chinesecolleagues.

For those of you who want to contribute to the rebuilding andrecovering of the Chinese library community, the IFLA Fund is now opento deposit donations that will be used for the recuperation of theChinese library community in due time. Your donations will be earmarkedfor the provision of assistance to the affected libraries and theirstaff.
