"年轻的白人白领者对外来移民有看法,因此选择投保守党。这是中文传媒不敢提及的、保守党赢得政权的最大原因之一。"-----Totally can't agree with you. Actually it's the opposite. Many minority groups started to vote for Harper this time, including me and many Chinese I know, which partially contributed to his win, not the white young voters.
My point is that the failure of Liberals in this election is because of their poor leadership, not of racisim or immigration issue. Otherwise, you cannot explain the Conservative winning in Richmond, which has a visible minority population of 59%.

I partially agree you. The Conservatives are not really so good. But in election, most of time you are not voting for the better one, you are voting for the less worse one. Who else can you vote for this time? Green Party, NDP or Liberal with Dion?
I'm somehow between a Liberal and a Conservative (Canadian-style, not American-style for sure). If Paul Martin were still the leader, I would vote Liberal. He managed the finicial well. Last time I didn't vote Liberal because of the scandal and wanted to send the message "Pal, you are not bad, but you cannot do whatever you want and think we'll still vote for you", like lots of other voters. This time I actually want to vote Liberals, but Dion is just too stupid.
I still didn't think the immigration factor worked this way. Young voters were not so important in this election, lots of them even didn't bother to vote. But there is a "non-English" factor in this election, many BC people, including me, don't like "that French". For God's sake, the Quebec Party's leader speaks better English than him. We call him "French" because he still has the French passport. It's OK for average people to have dual citizenships, but it's hard for Canadians to accept a prime minister who is also a French citizen. Do you think Chinese people will be happy if President Hu Jing Tao has another country's passport or just an Amercan green card?
And the voters were not sure about Dion's policies since he had changed his positions many times in the past. I think he just drove away many swing votes, like mine. At least Harper is a stronger figure and the economy hasn't been too bad under Conservatives. I just couldn't see NDPs can do well.

It's not fair to say that the reason why the Conservatives won the election is because the young caucasins dislikes the immigrants. The main issue in this election is economy, secondly maybe the health care and environments, not the immigrantion. I voted for Conservatives. Conservatives don't specially favor immigrants, but don't unfavor immigrants either. For people who have already got the voting rights, immigration should not be a main concern either since they have already been in Canada long enough.
Don't you consider the weak leadership of the Liberals is the key factor to lose this election? Dion gave a very poor interview before the election and he asked the interviewer to repeat several questions. It seemed he couldn't understand the questions. His English is also too bad to be easily understood.
