You are absolutely right! "too" is a brush of "adding feet". It implies that there was already a company traveling with her/him.

when read up to "the coat you liked to wear", the coat made me think more than the words itself.（令人遐想）

不太明白，why you put the "too" at the end of the 3rd line? just for rhyming?
