"败军之将,不可言勇.亡国之臣,不可言谋." This is why China has a long history and that it does not have effective/efficient way of growth. Too many of such sounds philosophical but totally nonsense. Bury values and treasures with your own hands. Don't spread these anymore.
Tibet was not a significant issue under the ROC goverance -- the then Dalai Lama had consented to Tibet being under the sovereignty of ROC before. The subsequent exodus/exile of Dalai Lama had a lot to do with PRC's Great Leap Forward and the subsequent Cultural Revolution, which will probably not happen under ROC's goverance either. If you ask me, I think ROC would have treated the Tibet issue with more leniency, and allowed greater autonomy for Tibet, but still leaving Tibet as part of China.
Mr. Ma had never supported Tibetan Independence -- in fact, neither did Dalai Lama himself. I am disappointed in the misinformation spewed by the PRC government. Personally, I belive the current PRC regime is more responsible for the Tibetan independence movement than Dalai Lama. Its erroneous Tibetan policy and propaganda ended up generated more support and sympathy for the TI movement, that of which would probably not occur under a ROC regime.
