今天上午去了校区的 IEP meeting,有好几个老师在场,speech therapist, OT, (PT 没有), psychologist, academic assessor, special education coordinator, current special education teacher, and a retired special education specialist。大家讲了阳阳的长处和不足,讨论了阳阳的各项评估的报告。最后给我们的建议是:
阳阳因为 autistic-like (自闭),可以继续接受校区的服务,包括:
30 minutes weekly speech group sessions
30 minuets of monthly consult RSP for case management
45 monthly consultation for occupational therapy
3 hours 5 days per week of preschool instruction
His autistic-like behaviors include:
1. An inability to use oral language for appropriate communication (阳阳在做评估的时候,不说话,虽然他的语言达到3岁11个月的程度)
2. A history of extreme withdrawal or relating to people inappropriately and continued impairment in social interaction from infancy through early childhood
3. Extreme preoccupation with objects or inappropriate use of objects of both (酷爱车)
几个老师都对新学校赞不绝口。这是附近学区的一个新建小学附属的 preschool,有两个班,专门是训练 speech 的。班上有6-8个学生,一个老师,一个助理。老师是受过特殊训练的。班上学生都有不同的语言问题,平时上课老师注重语言训练和其它 academic skills。我们会被安排尽快参观新学校,尽快决定是否转到这个学校。现在的老师 Jennifer 将会在最初的阶段,陪阳阳上课。
晚上我们全家开车去学校那边看。原来是阳阳朋友 sophie 和 taylor 家附近的。那一带是住宅区,不知道学区如何。阳阳毕业后,可以回到我们学区上 K。很感激政府,对阳阳这么关怀。希望这个学校适合阳阳。希望阳阳能够开心的上学。
