2. Chartres Cathedral. According to legend, since 876 the cathedral's site has housed a tunic that was said to have belonged to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is believed to be the one that Mary wore when she gave birth to Christ.

3. Built around 1200 AD, the Chartres labyrinth is called "The Road to Jerusalem", denoting both the Holy Land on Earth, and the Celestial City in Heaven. Walking the labyrinth is considered both a physical and spiritual journey to some people.
