France (11) - Paris (More Museums)

Both the guide book and Paris Museum Pass say Musée Rodin should open at 9:30 am, but when we got there at 9:20 am, the sign at the door said they opens at 10:00 am. So we walked to the Army Museum (also opens at 10:00 am) across the street to see its nice dome, and ended up visiting the Army Museum first.

1. Gas station near Musée Rodin.

2. Army Museum across the street.

3. The church at the museum compound. Under the golden dome, Napoleon lies majestically inside several coffins.

4. Napoleon's sarcophagus.

5. The Army Museum has a very good section on World Wars I and World Wars II. This is a motorbike used by paratroopers in WW II.

After Army Museum, we went to Musée Rodin. This is a fairly small museum. The full size sculptures are all in the garden while the museum has smaller models Rodin used.

6. The Thinker.

7. The Three Shades.

8. Portrait of Père Tanguy by Van Gogh in Musée Rodin.

9. Musée Rodin.

After Musée Rodin, we'd like to see Musée Picasso, but it has been closed since August 2009 for a major renovation, so we went to Centre Pompidou to see the modern art. I am not sure I like their art, but I sure like their building.

10. Centre Pompidou.

11. Centre Pompidou, the other side.

12. Some display at Centre Pompidou.
