"Can you tell people you believe in Communism?"
Why not? Yes, you can tell people that you believe communism and nobody cares. As long as you don't tell people that you are the member of communist party. In fact, a lot of party member came to this country by declaring that they were not members on their visa application. You think US government did not know that? They knew it from bottom of their heart that those party members were cheating but they don't care. They knew once those party members came to this country and they would relize that how suprior western ideology would be compared to that of communism. For one thing, you are enjoying the freedom of speech and ultering your opinion here. How do you think of the one who hold opposite view to you in China? Can he/she express the same frustration toward Chinese government in a public forum like you did to US govenment here? Use you brain!
The author did not say that US is the ultimate model of democracy (You seem to assume so, or you believe so?). Do we deserve to know more? Yes. To express without fear? Yes.

How oxymoronic !!! THey have 言论自由 then??? Here in your liberal dream land of US you think you have 完全的言论自由信仰自由??? Can you tell people you believe in Communism? Do you want to metion words like bomb and president in any phone calls in US in a single conversation? How about Wikileak? How about the Defense Department in US buy-out all of an author's book about the wall and burn them so no one can get a hand on them? How about the senior report Thomson and June WIlliams from NPR have to be forced to quit their jobs only because they made a single politically in-correct comments?
Sorry to rain on your parade but there is no purely one-sided story to brain wash people, isn't it?
