小的时候有一段日子是在远离城市的小山村里度过的。那里依山傍水，风景秀丽。那个时代，人们还过这男耕女织的生活，家家的院子里都养着鸡，鸭，兔子，当然还有猫。

白天大人们都忙着各自的事情，家里就只剩下我一个闲人，没时间搭理我这个小屁孩儿。这也就让我有机会和猫亲密接触。吃饭时我总是偷着将碗里的饭给猫一点儿，睡觉时猫就钻进我的被窝，有时猫被邻居家的狗追杀，我总是挺身护猫。时间一长猫与我就形影不离啦。到我不得不离开亲戚家的时候，心里还一直惦记着猫。后来听亲戚说，猫在我离开后也失踪了很久，哥哥几次都是在火车站找到了它。

有了自己的孩子以后，一天他们也嚷嚷着要养猫，那就让他们的童年也有猫为伴吧。于是，虎子就来到了我的家。
