A new accent is an adventure. Be bold! Exaggerate wildly!

Today we went to get our car fixed. On the way back, Scott started talking ipod apps. I got bored and said, instead of listening to your blah blahing, I am just going to read my assignment. So I started reading lesson three of 900 sentences.

I was surprised to find that he thought my pronouncing of "free" sounded like fwee. Other problematic sounds are uncle, time. For "L", I don't retract my tongue, so my post-vowel "L" is more like "O". "I" in time is the nasal thing again. Later I figured it out, I should think of Tie first, then add m. That way, I don't sound nasal. The "R" sound after "F" was something new to me. I didn't know I was pronouncing it wrongly, which might explain why I sounded like I have something in my mouth, as the R sound pronounced is not crispy. I am going to mark all "R" and "L" in lesson three reading.Good progress!
