一般来说,如果不是不知世事的愣头青或对你怀有敌意或对你居高临下,老美不会直接扔出“为什么中国要占领西藏(或入侵西藏)?”这种充满敌意的傻问题。稍微有点儿深度或对你比较在意的老美会隐蔽的介入西藏话题(如果他实在撑得慌想跟一个老中探讨这种敏感话题)。通常,他会先跟你提起最近在电视上或街上看到藏人游行,然后比较谦虚地跟你“打听”西藏的历史,最后拐弯抹角地试探你的态度。平时接触的老美大都属于这种温和有礼型,所以对他们关于西藏问题的"好奇"我的反应也是比较客气的。通常的套路是从人性入手, 一般会说:I am not a historian but I do know Tibet has been part of China for many many years. Almost as many Han Chinese people as Tibetans live in Tibet right now. Most of them, including a few friends of mine, are second- or even third-generation Han immigrants. Tibet is their home too. Just like today's US is the home shared by native Americans, “European settlers” and all other immigrants. It is reality and simply too late to dial the clock back. It might be in the best interest of everybody to respect the reality...
一般来说,发问的"European settler"会马上浮想联翩地记起自己老祖宗和印第安老先民之间的那些破事儿,很快就会把话题从西藏给岔开... :D
