THE BEST OF THE BEST

''...God has appointed another [future] for me...'' Genesis 4:25

If God has closed the door on something we really want, it's because He has a much better alternative waiting for you. It might feel like you wanted an adventure playground complete with monkey ropes and sandpit and you got a frisbee from Pound Land in its place. But it doesn't work that way at all. God doesn't want less for us. He wants more. But that does mean trusting that He knows how to best get there. The process can be painful, so it takes faith. For that we need peace: the peace of knowing that our future is in God's hands: 'And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose' (Romans 8:28 NIV). God's hands are reliable hands; they never pick up the wrong things for us to do. It's when we don't trust in Him and try and do things our way that things start going shaky! 'Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.' (Proverbs. 3:5-6 NIV) What now? Write down any future worries you have and pray through the list. Rip it up afterwards as a sign that you've given it to God and it's not yours to worry about anymore.
