From Paris north train station, 1 hour and 20 minutes train ride got us to Brussels south train station. From there, a metro ride got us to Brussels central train station where our hotel was located nearby.

1. Brussels central train station.

2. If you come to Brussels for only one thing, it has to be the Grand Place, which is the central square of Brussels. From our hotel, a short walk down this street lined with Italian and Greek restaurants and then turn right would get you there.

3. The square is incredibily beautiful.

4. A closer look of the buildings in the far side.

5. The opposite side of the buildings above.

6. The tall building is the Town Hall.

7. Every two years in August, an enormous "flower carpet" is set up in the Grand Place for a few days. We were too early to see this year's exhibition (8/15 - 8/19). Below is a picture of 2008's "flower carpet".

8. Three blocks from the Grand Place, is the Manneken Pis, a small bronze fountain sculpture depicting a naked little boy urinating into the fountain's basin. It is really small (61 cm) and yet people from all over the world come to Brussels to see it.

9. Wandering around Brussels.

10. St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral.

11. Headquarters of the European Commission. The building has a cruciform design with four wings of unequal size spanning from a central core.

12. Parc du Cinquantenaire, which means Park of the Fiftieth Anniversary, is a large public park near the Headquarters of the European Commission.

13. A cute electric car parked on the street.

14. Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, a shopping arcade built in 1846.
