Kapur, Akash (2012). India Becoming: A portrait of Modern India.
In many ways, this book reminds of what China in recent years has gone through since the economy took off at an alarming rate. The divide between the wealthy and the poor, the social problems resulted from the singular pursuit of money, the gradual effect on the traditions and legacies on the culture, ..., all too familiar tales. Yet, there are differences and those differences, be it cultural, social or political, make the reading all the more fascinating. Of course, the prosaic style that seems to be so natural to the writer adds equal amount of charm to the book.
