I never missed China again after my grandpa passed away there 12 years ago. After that I'm done with my past connection with that country. There's nothing interests me any more.
Most people would truly adapt to a new place when they feel severed from their past, including food, culture, relatives, etc..
The truth is I'm going to live the rest of my life in U.S., not China, much much longer than what I'd lived before over there. So looking forward, not backward.

Yes. Language is important. But here language is more than words, grammar, or pronunciation.
The author of New Concept English 4 said in the preface that at this level English is more about knowledge. One has to learn about the Western culture and maybe even identify with their values to achieve real fluency.
