A Coyote or a Fox

My neighbor warned me they saw coyotes during the day
and should watch our dog
I told them Fluffy and I saw fox quite a few times
at late night
couldn't tell whether it was a coyote or a fox
but they stared at each other for a few minutes on every encounter
Neither one made any move
until the fox or coyote walked away
One time Fluffy didn't even see one of those watching
until walking around the circle a couple of rounds
as if he or she were one of our neighbors all along
Not sure whether Fluffy could smell the difference
but she certainly did not show much interest
compared to baby rabbits
or human neighbors or dog friends she really loves
