The culture revolution and 1958 famine could be a penalty imposed by the heaven to the Chinese nation and people for their sins. It was the Chinese people who made Mao's regime into power. Even before Mao came to power, many innocent farmers(so-called landlords) were killed and their property was divided. Mao could not have done that by himself. It was conducted by the mass. Few supported general Peng when he was punished for speaking out the truth, even just partial truth. A nation that did not protect its national hero such as General Peng deserves punishment.
It is the majority of Chinese people who should repent for their sins. I as a child did a lot of sinful acts during the culture revolution.
Servitude has been rooted into Chinese education since the peak time of Han dynasty (Wu Ding) and enlarged during Qing dynasty and Mao's ruling.
From historical point of view, it is not surprising why there are still a good number of Mao's cats and dogs, because those willing-slaves do not know how to live without a master.

So-called culture revolution was to destroy all aspects of the Chinese culture so that Mao's thoughts could be the only "sacred" one.
Destroying beauty was one of those acts. Beyond this list there were a great number of innocent, ordinary women that suffered.
