The required information in the invitation letter includes the information of the applicant (name, gender, DOB, etc,), travel (dates of arrival and departure, duration, etc.) and inviting person (name, address, phone #, etc,). A few days ago, WXC has a video link showing a visa offer from the Chinese Embassy in DC had a very detailed Q/A session with a Chinese TV anchor woman. He said the only requirement for a US passport holder applying a Chinese visa is the passport must have at least ONE year or more before expiration.
