Tomorrow's Sun

When I drowned in the river of yesterday

I caught a look of you, tomorrow's sun,

I saw your unutterable unforgettable expression

It's the look of the sun that rises upon another day, another world

Carrying this memory of you into today,

I see I've never known you, sun

You've never shone your light into me

All my past days in sunlight were dark as midnight

And I crave for you,

I crave to know you, tomorrow's sun

Though you are there, as always, most revealed and most hidden

And I am dying of thirst to know you

Just that one look of you is worthy of my undying regard

For I see in that moment, freedom beyond the wildest imagination

I see a world unutterably new and fresh and real

You have the colors that hold the primal secret of all the world's colors

You alone have the fires that awaken the blind eye, ignite the desire, and stir the guts

Oh You stir me, tomorrow's sun, from the deepest of my being,

Just the thought of you stirs my guts

How may I approach you, so your divine unrest may stir up my sleeping soul, turn me upside down, downside up, churn me, churn my guts, inside out, outside in?

How may I prepare myself to invite you in, burn me, mess me up, melt me, mold me, cleanse me, purge me?

What is it you are revealing to me in that one look?

Is it your true face, your secret name, your soul? The dark soul of heavenly fire?

Is it the heart of darkness of your blazing heat?

I call on you, tomorrow's sun,

Reveal to me your wisdom, your nature,

Show me the secret of your fertility infinite

Show me the mystery of light

I call on you, open my eye to the secret of your birth, the mystery of how you rise from the dark waters of night

And I'm seeing you, the unborn sun, a ball of orange in the purple and blue shell rippling in the ultramarine deep

Oh let me see you, how you sail through the dark waters, across the blackest hours of night

How do you combat hostile elements, how you are surrounded but not extinguished by water

How do you nurse your seed of light and heat in the midst of cold moisture?

Show me how you protect yourself against the element

Show me how you rise from the abyssal depths

Show me how you let the waters lift you up and the freezing blue ripple to the rhythm and beat of your warm heart?

And I see a boat carrying the torch of the sun cutting through the dark

Is it to the ancient Egyptians I turn to illuminate the way of the sun through the nefarious night?

I see the oars rise and fall, splashing waters of the underworld

I am an oarsman who guards the mission of the sun's journey through the unknown regions where the blackest hours prevails

The boat must cross the 12 hours of night

In the darkness I cannot see, what are the barriers,

What gates are we going to cross? Who are the watchmen who guard the gates of hours?

What are the unknown creatures, demons and monsters watching for the hours?

What are your names? What are your secret names,

So I may utter your name and overcome your obstruction and pass the gates?

And who are my friends? Where are you, friends? How do I call on you?

What are your names I may call on you?

Come, friends! Come to my side, side with me, friends

As to my enemies,

I know even in your demonic malevolence

Your aggression cannot touch me

For I am shielded against your weapon by my sophisticated innocence and newness

By uttering your true name

I bend your weapon, I blunt your knife.

And I command you, water, to lift me up, lift up my boat

That carries the seed of tomorrow's world

And all this I will accomplish by your wisdom,

The dark wisdom of you, the sun of tomorrow

For your dark knowledge opens the ways where there is none

As our boat metamorphoses into a snake and glides through the rocks and desert

Our strength gains with each hour passed

Time is on our side
