为了更好地了解南军和南方在内战中的思维,我把“The Last Confedrate”借回来看了。是南军一个上校的子孙拍的。如我猜测的一样,南军作战是“为了保卫我们的家和生活方式”。至于这个“生活方式”是什么,影片里没说。倒是有几个黑人奴隶恭恭敬敬地伺候白人主子,白人主子也很有礼貌地对待黑人奴隶的镜头。这,大概就是南方要保护的“生活方式” - 奴隶主和奴隶“和谐”共存。
回复 '万得福' 的评论 : 真是好笑。美国人里面肯定有像你这样,把解放奴隶的林肯和恐怖分子并列的人,去泼油漆的人,这就是美国的自由。但这并不妨碍大部分美国人认为林肯是美国最伟大的三位总统之一。
如果美国精神就是“可以蓄奴而不允许他人干涉”的自由,那这种自由在奴隶社会就有了:奴隶主拥有绝对的自由。可奴隶们呢?奴隶们就不是人吗?美国的独立宣言里面说:We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness。人人生而平等。

Idealism for broad human kindness and freedom is the ultimate driving force for the USA - rooted for prosperity of the US. Anything deviated from this principle is un-American, of counter-productivity.
