Recovery Got Better

Since I started grappling, recovery has become a challenge.
After going hard at it on a Sat, I would spend the afternoon
and the next day getting my focus and strength back. I would
hang around the house doing nothing. My body felt like
burning which made sleeping restless which in turn didn't help.

I remembered what Maxwell said and started to count my
resting heart rate every morning. Unexpectedly, it dropped
from mid-and-high 50s to high-40s once I stopped coffee
this Memorial Day. I blogged on the 2017 Memorial Day
about coffee. It took me exactly another year to learn the
lesson and get serious about giving it up. Coffee-free for
one week, I felt great and no cravings.

Dehydration during and after training obviously was a bad
idea but I didn't pay attention until Coach J told me he had
a mix of protein and carb (3 to 1) after sparring. I opted
for coconut water. I also read that raw foods were good for
recovery and started eating meals with two crushed cucumbers
with vinegar and garlic, one of my tribe's summer dishes.
They tasted great and didn't add body weight.

Drinking less liqor should help. I also started to try krill
oil. Let's see what difference that would make.

回复 'GraceX' 的评论 : Thank you, Grace, for the thought. I will explore the subject now that heart rate comes on the radar.

Indeed, it is a bit low. Sometimes I felt dizzy after exercise.
I'm not into raw food wholesale but starting to pay attention to its benefits.
Thanks for stopping by.

Is high 40s resting heart rate a bit too low? I also heard that coffee could lead to faster heart rates. My boss is a firm believer in raw food, though I have some doubts on that. Cucumbers are definitely fine and tasty to eat raw, I suppose, but not every vegetable, such as beans (例如,四季豆). Good luck!
