China joined WTO under the status of a developing country, not as a developed country. just like the status of Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and India etc.
The fact is China has been following the rules of WTO in the last 18 years, just because China GDP has been growing exceptionally well during this period of time, China became the jealousy of the US, especially those Uneducated White Nationalist, and a few Chinese haters.
Those Chinese haters consisted of a small remnant of the leaders of 89 Tiananmen Square demonstration, and many more others from the family and relatives of Chinese corrupted public officers, whose had been disciplined or jailed. Those people had accumulated huge wealth using their public positions and had laundered money out of China and sent their family and relatives out of China, living mostly in Canada, US, and Australia. So they have good reasons to hate China or even Chinese.
The Chinese communist party's reneging trick played successfully with WTO for two decades is finally reaching the limit of American tolerance and meeting its demise. The Americans finally realized that a contract without a gun pointed to its head means nothing to the Chinese communist party.
