The continuing true story of Eric Liddell’s glorious life after winning Olympic gold in the 1924 Paris Olympics. Liddell (JOSEPH FIENNES) has returned to China, where he was born to missionary parents, modestly avoiding celebrity in order to teach local schoolchildren. In 1937, the Japanese invade China at the outset of WWll. Liddell with his friend Xu Niu (SHAWN DOU), a street smart resistance fighter, recognize the increasing danger so Liddell sends his wife, Florence (ELIZABETH ARENDS) and their two daughters to safety in Canada. Duty-bound, Liddell stays to minister to the civilian victims. Liddell and other foreign nationals are taken as prisoners and placed in one of the many Japanese internment camps where they are forced to endure for two years. Before the Japanese surrender, Liddell succumbs to a brain tumor. Yet his message of hope became immortal. Eric Liddell’s legacy continues to this day as he remains admired as a champion for life.
Great movie, this true story reminded me of myself since I had an experience of teaching in China, I got T.B in 2013 and was close to death then I went back home cured myself and came back until this minute I am still here, will go back for good next week, this movie made me cry since I have memories in this country.
A woman knows the man she married and doesn't try to change the man she loved. That's a wife blessed and husband with the blessings of God....love ever growing for each and their children.
An incredible true story of a life surrendered and dedicated to serving God and his fellowman against all odds and even at the cost of his own life. He kept his course and finished the race that was set before him. And the Lord will say; "Well done my good and faithful servant. Enter thou into thy rest." Thank you great servant of the Lord, Eric Liddell.
Eric Liddell's life is one of the most inspiring I have ever encountered, and his faith was the profound kind of faith, the faith of an immanent God whose ways may be beyond our understanding, but whose essence is available to us to know. I love the quote by Liddell (according to "Chariots of Fire"), "When I run, I feel His pleasure." Thank you for posting this movie.
One thing coming in my mind that what I m doing , looks like I m wasting my life , I always desired to use my life for God but I m stuck with too many things , ambitions, world life , I see that the people those love God , they not care about THIER life and comfort , I think this is the mercy of god who gives opportunity to serve him , rich person cannot go to heaven , no matter what people say , I m not rich but still o love my comfort and never left for For god , I see that how missionary given THIER lives for GOSPAL and never even care for anything , I pray for Lord that please use me for his work , I see that these days most people not doing the ministry like these missionaries did

I'm in my twenties, and I'm usually pretty good with British English, but I've been saying Ralf Fee-enn-ess my whole life.

It should be pronounced "ralf fines". Just because he prefers "rafe" because it sound more sophisticated doesn't make it right.
