Your article brought back a lot of memories in my childhood.
I recalled that when I listened to the very first violin concerto, it was Beethoven’s in D major. It was a phonograph record, played by David Oistrach. The simplicity of melody could be presented by violin in such a beautiful way, I was absolutely astonished and obsessed. Even though, it was during the time period that Western music was not publicly encouraged, and I did not have the treat of any icecream with soda, but I practiced violin throughout my childhood; even after I left my hometown and stepped on this New World. I recalled that in my first recital, I played Beethoven concerto III movement.
Now, as I am aged and look around, many things have changed and people who were used to close to me were left; yet, my violin is still there and waiting for me to be touched. When I play my violin again and find out that most of the memories are still in my muscles, I’m deeply appreciate it and grateful.
