SEATTLE — Seattle police said an unknown suspect burglarized four different West Seattle businesses and used a saw to carve a hole into each of the business's safes, where they then stole hundreds of dollars in cash.

The first incident was reported early Sunday morning at Ezell's Famous Chicken in the 4200 block of Southwest Morgan Street, according to police. A thief broke through a small window that measured only a few feet in diameter. From there, they used an electric saw to cut a hole through the restaurant's safe.

A half-hour later, at 5:00 a.m., police said a similar incident occurred at the MOD Pizza located in the 4700 block of Fauntleroy Way Southwest.

Then at 6:00 a.m., a third burglary happened at Lauren's Jewelry in the 2600 block of SW Barton Street.

Two days later, on Tuesday morning, police believe the same suspect burglarized the Taco Time restaurant in the 3500 block of SW Avalon Way.

In all four cases, the suspect used an electric saw to gain access to cash stored in the business's safe. Police said a substantial amount of money was stolen but didn't give a precise amount.

KOMO News spoke to customers of three of the stores that were burglarized. They expressed shock at the brazen nature of each crime.

“That’s pretty bold. You hear stuff like that in James Bond, but not in my neighborhood," said West Seattle resident Tony Taylor.

"Nothing is really surprising anymore," added another resident. "As far as I’m concerned, we have no protection."
