West Virginia and North Virginia have the best Fall colors.
There are no beautiful Fall colors in the South because it doesn't have that gradual transition period from warm to cool temperature. For example,
in central NC, there's no early frost till mid November. When frost comes, all the leaves of the deciduous trees would drop together. There's no time for turning colors. We just went to WV last week to watch the Fall colors. It's stunningly beautiful. The part of WV closer to DC is my favorite area. It's peaceful but also lively. Strange combinations because lots of people commute to work from there to DC so on weekdays there are almost no visitors and traffic is light. And it's bustling with visitors on weekends. We got there on Sunday night, and had a day trip on Monday in the Appalachian mountains and along the Potomac river. I lived in Georgia before but never really liked it. There's nothing remarkable in Georgia but its peaches.
