回复 'elfie' 的评论 : Thank you for the comment. Very cool. Talking about job/career without thinking about the life style comes with it is always vague. Income, life style and personal preferences of the nature of a job is a package deal.
I do know someone who really loves his job (his is a lawyer) and wants to work till the last minute of his life. He took over the business (a small law firm) from his mentor who passed away by his desk in his office. My friend told us:" I might want to do the same."
I won't do this myself, but I could understand him.

To have a job is to make a living. Of course the more money the better, unless, this job requires nothing. I have a job that requires pretty much nothing so I don't get much earning, only $$$/ month. But I am happy because I don't need to work under pressure and I got paid. And I got a husband who can make enough for all five of us.
Nobody likes his or her job if it gets very stressful and it underpays. It depends on how much you want to earn and how much you'd like to give to that job.
I have a family so I am not interested in fully investing in a job. Your daughter is still young and single, which is different. The importance of jobs gradually reduces when people age. To a point that most people want to leave it entirely. Indeed, very few love their jobs so much that they want to do the jobs for life, like a rabbi. They are the sages who never retire, the people who really love their jobs. So to say you love your job is just self deceiving. If you love your job, why do you save for retirement and pension? Why can't you work till you drop dead?
