I don't eat Chinese food any more and don't feel any regret.
Matter of fact, I haven't been there for 20 years and would never go over again.
The only Chinese food product I still buy from the mom and pop Asian store is the dried noodles from Taiwan. It's easy to cook and cheap. It's not true that tastes can't be changed. It can be changed if you want to or if you need to. I have neither desire, easy access nor necessity to keep on eating processed food from China. So I stopped. Food craving is a strange thing to me. Maybe because I never grew up with gourmet food or real Chinese cuisine? All I can remember is noodles with smashed garlic. We did have dumplings occasionally but it's no longer my favorite food because I've quit eating pork for religious reasons. I'm not Muslim, I am a Jewish covert. Without pork, Chinese dumplings don't have any allure. It doesn't make sense to make them if you can't eat them.
