Many people left many exciting comments. Thank you.
Some further remarks:
1. Education does not make one smart. Experience makes one smart.
2. Many people are employees for life. Many live in establishment comfort zone for life (say school teacher, librarian, government researcher). These people tend to lean the government's way.
3. America will certainly decline, just like every empire before had. Netherland, England - these great powers are just a small foot print in today's world.
4. If you are voting or leaning left, and you say "America is great for its freedom and democracy" - then you dno't know the history of how much American have declined, even in the category of democracy and freedom.

回复 '文学城普通人' 的评论 : 30 years ago there is no contest that America is great. Today let's say USA lead China by a hair, head to head. This is despite the poor political system disadvantage China has. USA is trying very hard to lower itself to the level of China.
I trust you, and you need to trust me. It is called mutual trust...
****
You got it wrong.
You cannot ask/demand people to trust you, you have to earn their trust with your hard work. Your trusting me does not necessarily mean that I "need" to trust you, and I don't. Your understanding of the idea of "mutual trust" is half baked, if not totally off course.
In my opinion, the way you make your case may easily cost you people's trusts of you, or at least your judgement, instead of winning them.

回复 'ShalakoW' 的评论 : I trust you, and you need to trust me. It is called mutual trust. Thank you for reading my short bio. I don't publicize stuff easily. Hao Han bu ti dang nian yong. But thanks so much for contributing your opinions. I do hear your side of the argument. I am never sure I am always right on everything. And I do make mistakes. I do take pleasure in saying that your assertion about my "lies" are entirely and completely not true. I do have a PhD degree in Engineering, and I don't even tell you which school it is from. I do have tenure position in a ivy level private school, but I don't tell you which school it is. I have published n books, but I don't want to tell people what "n" is. It is not important. America is very divided, and both sides are right sometimes.
巨匠苏格拉底被希腊人赐毒酒杀死,没有抵抗,死前只说了一句话“the only thing I know is that I know nothing"。

这样的思维,就如把"Are you serious?"

巨匠苏格拉底被希腊人赐毒酒杀死,没有抵抗,死前只说了一句话“the only thing I know is that I know nothing"。
When it comes to President Biden, you have clearly changed your mind, though his China Policy has been much tougher towards China than Trump's.
Your story is not convincing.

OK. It seems to me that you prefer to measure a president by his China Policy, which led you to like President Trump personally. But when it comes to President Hidden, you changes your mind.
Do you know Biden's China Policy is much tougher than Trump's?

回复 'ShalakoW' 的评论 : Thank you for visiting from an ardent citizen. What I meant was "the me five years ago" would not understand "me today". I mean to say that my view has changed, over five years, over ten years, over 15 years. Overall, people's view change.
2016 I was going to vote for Hillary ... then I thought ... I live in a blue state there is no need for me to vote. It was very surprising that on election night Hillary lost. Still I did not understand a thing about this weird guy named Trump. Over the next few years I start to like him, because he was against giving China all the benefits of the doubt and blank checks. That stance does resonate with me. I came to the United States after Tian An Men massacre. I care about a lot of old fashioned things.

"Five years ago, I was not able to talk about what I am talking about now" is better than "Five years ago, I wouldn't be able to talk about what I am talking about now", I suppose.
You know five years ago, I would not know what I'm talking about.
****
1
Five years ago, I couldn't talk about what I am talking about now, 或 Five years ago, I wouldn't be able to talk about what I am talking about now."
2
I didn't know what I was talking about five years ago" 的建议也是错的,它的意思是"我不知道自己5年前在说什么", 这显然不是你上面英文要表达的意思。
