I think I am American through and through, except for I have the same genetics I was born with. My way of thinking and living is entirely localized. I am Jewish and most of my friends are Jewish. I go to a synagogue every Friday, singing in Hebrew. I cook Jewish food and keep kosher.
There's not a trace of me remaining what it was 25 years ago when I moved to the American South. I've been in grad school, also been in the Army. I worked all kinds of odd jobs, met all kinds of people, had numerous boyfriends. Married and had three children. I haven't been to China for 20 years and not knowing a single Chinese person but my own mother.
Well, the only thing that you can't fully change is your DNA signature. Everything else can be changed: language, name, culture, customs, food preference, faith, social network, etc... After all, your entire self can be revised. After all, you are what you live with.
