I read three articles about presidential election on ‘ Bucks County Herald’ October 24, 2024. Barbara gave me the newspaper.
1) Courting Bucks Voters
‘Trump chats with reporters, mans Feasterville McDonald’s drive-thru window’. written by Peg Quann.
Former President Donald Trump worked the drive-thru lane at the McDonald’s on East Street Road in Feasterville as thousands of his supporters lined the busy highway in Lower Southampton Sunday to greet him.
Trump talked to the reporters through the window about a variety of topics.
The formal president said he “loved” Pennsylvania. Trump told the reporters the crowd was “ happy but they want hope. We’re going to make it fact,” he said.
2) Courting Bucks Voters
‘ At Washington Crossing, Harris challenges Republicans to “ put country first”’ written by Freda R. Savana
Vice President Kamala Harris brought her battle for the presidency to the picturesque Washington Crossing Historic Park Oct.16, noting it’s where Gen. George Washington crossed the Delaware River in a turning point of the Revolutionary War.
Endorsed by more than 100 prominent Republicans who have dropped their support for their party’s nominee Donald Trump, Harris stressed the need to elect a president who will uphold “ their sacred oath to the Constitution.”
“The Constitution laid the foundation of our democracy,” said Harris.
Former Congressman Adam Kinzinger called on voters to put “country over party.”
“ Let us together stand up for the rule of law, for our democratic ideals and the Constitution of the United States” said Harris.
3) ‘Why I believe Kamala Harris is the best choice’ written by Jim Greenwood.
I had the honor to serve Bucks County in Pennsylvania House and senate and United States Congress for 24 years. I am a lifelong Republican.
This year I am supporting Kamala Harris.
It is alarming to see thousands of refugees from Central America and other countries crossing our southern border without permission. We want to maintain our history of welcoming refugees looking for freedom and opportunity. Our diverse population has been central to our strength as a nation. But we also believe in lawful and orderly immigration.
To solve the problem, Congress must act. Conservative Republican Senator James Lankford collaborated with Democrats and Independents to craft a bipartisan border security bill that would massively increase the number of new enforcement tools.
Before Congress could pass this toughest-ever bipartisan legislation, Trump persuaded Republican Congressional leaders to kill it. Rather than solve the crisis, he chose to prolong it, so he could exploit the chaos for his election campaign. Kamala Harris has pledged to support the bill and sign it as president.
According to the Wall Street Journal, 68% of surveyed economists said prices would rise faster under Trump due to his plans to improve tariffs.
For me, the choice is clear.
Harris support a strong bipartisan immigration bill, and her economic plans are better for the economy
I am confident that Republicans in Congress will be able to work with her.
4)Election day is coming and I don't know who will win in the end. But I think “Let us together stand up for the rule of law, for our democratic ideas and the Constitution of the United States.” is right. ‘Country over party.’
I hope China will also move towards democracy and the rule of law.
