10月31日，患有甲型流感病毒感染（危重型）、重症肺炎并呼吸功能衰竭、小男孩涵涵进入湖南省儿童医院接受治疗。经过医院18天的细心治疗和康复，这个6岁的男孩熬过“鬼门关”，成为湖南省呼吸机成功救治的第二例危重症甲流患儿。

11月6日，“涵涵你快点好起来，我们一起迎接太阳”“涵涵，健康快乐”……甲流高危隔离抢救病房里挂上了护士阿姨送给涵涵的气球，上面写满了祝福语。插上呼吸机的涵涵不能活动，为了让涵涵不那么枯燥，护士们陪着涵涵玩起了气球。

11月7日凌晨2点，涵涵早已经进入梦乡，护士叶辉靠在涵涵的病房外打盹，“我怕他一不小心把呼吸器上的管子拔掉，得通宵守着他”。每天12个小时不间断的护理，对医护人员是个不小的挑战。
