The article by Eric X. Li published in New York Times on Feb. 16 correctly pointed out the current problems of the United States. However, it has two flaws:
1) The over-spending problem of the United Stated cannot be simply used to justify the necessity of having communism.
2) It is unrealistic to link US to the entire modern west. Germany is not doing what the US are doing. They created the highest trade surplus in 2011. They start massive building of automobile plants on US soil.
It is short-sighted for any economist to focus merely on US and China.
