Take step 1 and 2 only when you are sure that you can get at least 83 in each; otherwise you will get stuck with the low scores for 7 years and have no competitiveness.
If you have H1 visa, you have to take step 3 before you apply for residency.
Use good books incl. textbooks; do as many practice questions as possible.
