This morning right after we started off to the daycare, Olivia said to me:

“Mommy, my tummy hurts. Really, I am not lying. I am old enough not to lie.”

I chuckled to myself, thinking: “Honey, you had it exactly backwards.”

“So you have been lying since you were little then?” I teased her.

“Yeah.”

Evan heard his sister and said to me: “Mommy, girls can not be lions.”

I thought: 这都哪跟哪儿呀 (what does this have anything to do with that?), but then realized that he did not know what the word “lie” meant yet and “lying” sounded just like “lion”. So I rolled with him.

“Okay, so girls can not be lions. How about the boys?”

“Hm…I am a moose.” Then he started laughing at his own answer.
