FBI Name Check Expedite Criter

Unfortunately, like so many issues in the realm of immigration law, there is no way to tell how long one of these checks will take. We have heard anecdotal evidence of this process taking anywhere from three months to a year or more. Understandably, alien beneficiaries who are left waiting are frustrated, and are often interested in investigating ways to expedite this process. There is a short list of situations in which USCIS will expedite an FBI Name Check request, but the list is very limited. In order to expedite the FBI Name Check, one of the following must be established: * Imminent military deployment; * Age-out benefits (not covered by the Child Status Protection Act); * Required by a lawsuit pending in federal court; * Required for a permanent residence case pending before an Immigration Judge; or * Compelling reasons as provided by the requesting official (for example, a critical medical condition) assessed on a case by case basis. Even if you do not fall into any of these categories, there are ways to monitor the status of your name check: * Telephone the National Name Check Office to inquire about the status of your name check. The number is [phone]. * Email the National Name Check Office at [e-mail] to inquire about the status of your name check. In your email, please provide the following information: name, date of birth, Alien number, and your email address. While we cannot guarantee a response to any of the above inquiries, sometimes it is a good idea just to remind the FBI that you are waiting.
