Help! When shall I apply for H1?

Situation:
Ph.D. candidate in business, expecting to graduate in July.
Accepted a tenure track assistant professor position at another university's business school (contract has been signd)

Question:
When shall I apply for H1 visa? Right now or after I start the job i August?
