紧急求教: 我需要找什么样的人担保?

我于1997年来美。先由B1 转成学生身份。后因各种原因使自己黑了下来。去年中我与美国公民的妻子结婚，并联系了一个律师。根据，律师的要求我去了指定的医院做了检查身体。当我把我准备好的材料——如：我太太的公民纸，我们的结婚证，还有我的身体检查等、、、、、、当我把这些寄给律师后，律师来电说我和我太太的收入低，所以，要找一个担保人，大家知道，从97年到现在我在美没已经11年了，在大路的母亲年龄以大。我十分想拿到绿卡回去看她老人家。我有如下问题请教各位高人，并表示深切的谢意！
1，律师所说的担保，我需要找什么样的人？到哪里找？
2，如我以上所说情况，我大约什么时间可以拿到绿卡（临时或正式）

1) You need to file USCIS Form I-864 - Affidavit of Support, and find a co-sponsor. The form I-864 is a contractual affidavit of support, and must be submitted for most family-based applicants and employment-based applicants when a relative is the petitioner. 2) Since you entered the country legally and overstayed, you can adjust your status in US after your marriage with a US citizen. But depends on when you entered the country with inspection and why you overstayed your visa, there may be additional issues that would complicate your status adjustment, so it may take more than a year to get the conditional green card.
