兔总say:
"Not that we need to worry for his love life status, or that he is looking for mate online".
me say:
1. 应该是 worry "about" his love life status,
2. status这个词在这儿多余,应该去掉读起来比较通顺一些。
3. "or that he is looking for mate online."这句话也有语法错误/歧义。do you mean looking for "mates" online(这里mates是应该用复数的), or looking "to" mate online (这里的mate当动词用, 介词应该用to, 而不是for.)
短短一句话这么多错,shall I blame you, or shall I blame your English teacher?
兔总thank thank me, and say:
1.I have seen or heard many times “worry for” instead of “about”.
You use the textbook grammar, but notice that many real life sentences are considered incorrect from what we have been taught, but are widely accepted by the main crowd users.
Such as: I’ve got to go.
Textbook taught us, it should be I’ve gotten to go.
How do you explain that?
2.“status” emphasizes the 状态. I don’t think it’s 多余.
3.the last one, he is looking for mates? Not just mate? Are you kidding? LOL…
me再say:
1 and 2 might not be black and white. “worry”做名词用的时候勉强可以和“for”搭配, but they are just awkward. Maybe truck drivers and president Bush say/write English like that, but I'll just let you pass this time, since I'm sure you can't even drive a truck(or run a country for that matter).
3 IS black and white, because, mate, as a noun, is a countable noun. It can only be "a mate" or "mates". Both are grammatically correct. However, 这里是泛指,不是特指,所以应该用“mates”.还是这种改法比较好。第二种改法里“mate”做动词,是“交配”的意思,比较色情,I'm sure it's not what you meant. Or is it?
LOL
